OTLEY Town warmed up for this Sunday's Wharfedale Cup Final against Pool at Guiseley's Nethermoor stadium with two emphatic league victories over Baildon Trinity and Hampsthwaite United.

They took on Trinity at home last Wednesday knowing that a win, along with other results going their way, could see them secure promotion from the West Yorkshire Association Football League Division Two at the first attempt.

Town opened the scoring after nine minutes, with striker Connor Wilson drilling the ball across the keeper into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

Town struggled to break Baildon down after that but they scored again in the 31st minute. Chris Crellin was fouled in the box and Daniel Petty calmly finished the resulting penalty.

Baildon halved the deficit going into the break after Ben Craven finished off a swift counter attack with a neat strike.

Town re-established their two goal lead though in the 59th minute. Wilson added his second after a powerful run ended with a trademark thump into the bottom corner.

Town brought on Bobby Neesam and Luke Stainthorpe and the pair wasted no time in combining effectively. Neesam set up Stainthorpe for Otley's fourth before the roles were reversed for goal number five.

Town's second half performance was topped off by a fine goal from Crellin. Stainthorpe drifted the ball in, and the playmaker found the net with a screaming volley to make the final score 6-1.

Town were guaranteed promotion going into the Hampsthwaite game but they were hit with an early blow as the home side opened the scoring.

Stainthorpe responded quickly, making it 1-1 in the 13th minute before adding his second a minute later after a great ball by Jonny Unwin.

Hampsthwaite levelled quickly, after a break down in play in the middle of the park saw them make it 2-2.

Two quickly struck goals from Neesam though meant that Town went into the break 4-2 up.

After the interval, Crellin found Liam Dixon in the area and he crashed the ball into the back of the Hampsthwaite net for 5-2.

Stainthorpe then gave way to a hungry Wilson and he made an instant impact, converting a cross to give Town a 6-2 advantage.

Wilson completed the scoring in the 75th minute. Crellin found the substitute, who burst through on goal to finish. Town continue to press for the title after their 7-2 victory.
