IlkleyTown 7 Field 2

TOWN netted six times in the second half as they romped to a win which puts them four points behind the Premier Division leaders Beeston St Anthony's.

The complexion of the game was markedly different before the break and was evenly contested.

Harry Higgins gave Town the lead when he burst down the left flank before squeezing the ball past the keeper from a tight angle.

Field hit back and levelled when Jack Webster escaped the attentions of Darren Munday and Josh O'Hanlon before firing into the roof of the net.

The visitors started brightly in the second half before Ilkley scored again.

Matty Whitehead slipped a through ball to Lee Spires, who calmly slotted under keeper Daniel Farrar.

Seven minutes later Spires had his second. A fantastic run down the right flank from Toby Harris allowed him to cross for the top scorer to smash the ball home.

Harris netted his second goal minutes later when Field beat the offside trap and slotted the ball between the keeper's legs.

The game had only just restarted when Ilkley were awarded a penalty, after Robin Layton was fouled as he prepared to strike. Spires stepped up and completed his 11 minute hat-trick, sending the keeper the wrong way.

This prompted a change in goal for Field, as Jack Webster took over between the sticks, allowing Danny Farrar to become centre forward.

This move quickly paid off, as Farrar made it 5-2 with a fantastic solo run and finish.

The goal didn't sit well with Ilkley, who quickly went back on the attack. They didn't take long to avenge Farrar's strike, as Whitehead set up Harris 16 yards out and he curled his shot into the top corner.

An own goal from Daniel Nolan as he knocked in Whitehead's ball across the goalmouth, completed the humiliation for Field.
