Ben Rhydding 1 Neston 1

ANOTHER end to end game produced another North Men's League Division One draw for Ben Rhydding.

Playing their first home game on the new pitch, Rhydding scored early and looked set to put on a strong display.

George Gamble’s sharp reactions were rewarded as he converted a rebound from the keeper’s pads after a corner.

Neston replied with a deft deflection routine from a corner and after that the game stayed deadlocked.

Good composure and solid defending from Matty Birch, Harry Appleby, Till and Lewis Wild kept things steady while outstanding work from Joe Dowley at centre half ensured the ball kept fizzing around but the final connection in front of goal just did not happen and the score stayed level at the half-time break.

The game continued to see-saw between the two sides and Torran Hockley produced some impressive saves in goal for Rhydding. Charlie Smith covered miles and was unlucky not to score.

Will Musgrave went close and Andrew Lorimer worked hard to build the play in the final third of the pitch but the goals did not come.

Max Helme made some productive connections and showed excellent vision and Connor Dowley looked ever-threatening.

The fast pace of the game took its toll and in the end a draw was a fair result. Ben Rhydding could be pleased with their grit and application late in the game.
