Chester 2 Ben Rhydding 3

BEN Rhydding continued their climb to safety in the North Men's Premier League by fighting back from 2-0 down to win at Chester.

The home side capitalised on poor marking to establish their lead as Ben Rhydding didn't help their own cause.

Thankfully, Connor Dowley had an outstanding game and was highly influential throughout, while Robert Ramsden looked classy in midfield .

Rhydding never looked back from the moment when skipper Will Musgrave reduced the deficit with a slick corner routine.

The game was all about Rhydding from then on and Chester absorbed a spell of real pressure.

George Gamble was just too much for them to handle and a last-ditch foul on him in front of goal drew a penalty corner, which Musgrave clinically dispatched to level the scores.

Struan Connor caused all sorts of havoc next as he burst through alone and the Chester keeper came out of the circle to challenge him but played the ball with his body and got sent off.

Despite this, Rhydding were unable to score from two corners and Chester must have felt like they had survived.

The game was end to end in the last ten minutes but Callum Franks had the last word, using his tireless engine to the bitter end and getting through to the far post for Musgrave to find him ready to slide to score the winner.

This was another improved performance from Ben Rhydding who round off their pre-Christmas programme with a home game against York on Saturday.
