Ben Rhydding Ladies 4 Belper 1

BEN Rhydding continued their winning streak after a weekend off in the Investec Women’s Conference North.

Refreshed from their break, Ben Rhydding tore into their bottom-of-the-table rivals.

The first goal came after just two minutes. Tanisha Janzen scored with a lightning strike.

Encouraged by her early goal, Janzen doubled the lead after 13 minutes with an almost identical effort.

Ben Rhydding dominated territory and possession but could not add to their lead before the interval.

Jodie Bridger narrowly missed a one on one with the keeper as Belper came under unrelenting pressure.

Belper stunned Ben Rhydding when their striker latched onto a full-pitch hit from one of her defenders and beat goalkeeper Charlotte Smith.

There was another blow for Ben Rhydding when their captain Rachelle le Bourdon got hit on the chin which resulted in her taking a trip to hospital.

Her injury meant a change of position for Bridger who moved from midfield to defence.

Rhydding didn’t let the setbacks distract them and they soon added their third goal. Quick reactions from Lucy Williams saw her deflect the ball past the Belper keeper.

The Ben Rhydding girls didn’t stop there. In the 62nd minute, Jen Wilson supplied a neat deflection to score to put the cherry on top of a comfortable win.

Next up for Ben Rhydding is a home game against Loughborough on Saturday.
