North Men's Premier Division: Ben Rhydding 4 Sheffield University Bankers 3

BEN Rhydding bagged their first league points of the season on Saturday thanks to an excellent performance.

The home side, buoyed by Neil Sugden, looked composed and dynamic from the start, and Will Musgrave's beautiful ball into the circle was expertly despatched by Struan Connor.

Five minutes later, Bankers levelled when a Rhydding defender deflected the ball past the keeper, but Musgrave then converted a fine corner to make it 2-1.

Connor Dowley's took a lead out of Musgrave's book from another corner to extend the lead to two goals, and the fourth goal was a result of smooth two-touch hockey, with James Cutter passing to Matty Bairstow, who slipped the ball past the keeper for Musgrave to score.

Going into the break 4-1 up should have given Rhydding huge confidence but they came out gingerly and Bankers took advantage of their caution.

A turnover on the 23-metre line led to Bankers getting in the circle and scoring against the run of play.

Things then became tense as Rhydding defended a seemingly endless string of corners.

Bankers pulled it back to 4-3 and the home side's nerves were frazzled by the end of the game, although the precious win lifted them off the bottom of the table on goal difference above Timperley.

On Saturday, Ben Rhydding meet mid-table Wakefield at College Grove (1.30).
