Ilkley Rugby Club have been dealt a blow with the news that two of their Twickenham squad are leaving the club.
Winger JH Johnson, who scored the first try in the 34-18 RFU National Intermediate Cup final defeat by East Grinstead and back row forward Liam Copsey are both moving away from the area with their jobs and have played their last games for the club.
Coach Rhys Morgan said: “Of course it is a blow because JH Johnson was outstanding at Twichenham and showed what a good player he is while Liam Copsey has worked so hard to force his way into the team in a position where there is strong competition.”
Number eight Iain McKenzie was revealed as the club’s player of the year at Ilkley’s annual dinner. Scrum half Ryan Cooper won the most improved player. award.
