Kyle Brassington may not have reached the men's doubles final at the JM Glendinning International Tournament.

But the 23-year-old has still achieved an ambition.

Yorkshire county player Brassington, who is a sports science management student at Leeds Met University, has been named on the Great Britain team for the World Student Games in China next month.

"I don't know whether I will be playing singles and doubles or just singles," confessed a delighted Brassington.

"We fly out on August 6 for a week's training camp and then play the Games.

"I have represented Great Britain before in the BNP Paribas Tournament but this is different."

Before flying to China, Brassington will play for Yorkshire's men in Group One of County Week at Eastbourne and the British Tour tournament at Ilkley, and might even squeeze in an ITF Futures event, such as the one at Ilkley last week.

Brassington and his New Zealand partner Marvin Barker lost 7-6 (7-3), 3-6 (10-7) to eventual winners David Rice and Sean Thornley.

Brassington said: "It took me a few games to get going as I am not used to playing in Futures events and the match boiled down to the odd point on my serve or an odd return by me."

Brassington did win a title at the weekend, however, defeating Steven Hunt 6-2, 6-2 in the club closed men's singles final played on Ilkley's indoor courts.
