ILKLEY scored a thrilling three-wicket win over Tong Park/Esholt in the first round of the Waddilove Cup.

An unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 54 between Andrew Wheeler (26no) and Harry Wilson (21no) took the home side past Tong Park/Esholt’s 146 total with two balls to spare.

They now face Menston, who were too strong for Bolton Villas, Ben Purvis following up an unbeaten 84 with four for 28.

Ilingworth proved too strong for Addingham as they scored a crushing 211-run win. Mike Barber claimed a five-wicket haul for the losers.

Division three leaders ben Rhydding gave Division One’s bottom team rawdon a scare before finally losing by 17 runs.

Jamie Pickering (80) and Andrew Doidge (67) led the way as Rawdon hit 245 for eight. The visitors replied with spirit, Robert Miller (64) leading the chase, but were finally bowled out for 228 as Sam Moore took five for 43.

Ian Hawksworth (56no) and Joe Pleasance (41no) saw Green Lane to a nine-wicket win at Hall Park, while Matt O’Grady (46) top-scored as Otley passed Horsforth’s 138 for six with five wickets to spare.

Kier Nelson hit 62 in Skipton’s 140 for seven but, with an unbeaten half-century from Ryan Cooper, Burley cruised through by nine wickets.

In Saturday’s Division two programme, Olicanian had a winning draw against Silsden. Will Driver (98) and Ali Long (68) helped Olicanian to post a total of 257-9. Silsden, despite 128 from Lee Bilsborough, were hanging on at 246-8 when stumps were drawn.

In Division Three Ilkley skipper Nick Cockcroft was in inspirational form as they defeated Colton by six wickets.

Cockcroft took five for 52 as Colton were bowled out for 182 and hit an unbeaten century to see his side to their target.

Despite their victory Ilkley remain second in the table – four points adrift of leaders Ben Rhydding who defeated Horsforth by four wickets. Addingham got the better of Hall Park, winning by 26 runs.

Menston hit the day’s highest score of 305-7 on their way to an emphatic 201-run win over Bardsey After dropping their first point last week at Pool, Burley returned to winning ways in Division One with a five-wicket win at Kirkstall Educational.

Burley are one point ahead of Beckwithshaw who inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Guiseley.
