WEDNESDAY 6 September sees the latest staging of the Ilkley Incline race. This race, now in its 21st year, sees runners battle it out on this 1-mile uphill only course.
Those undertaking this tough challenge with 560ft of climbing will be rewarded with stunning views across the Wharfe Valley.
The route starts on tarmac road, before there’s a stony track to contend with.
The race starts at 7pm, with runners lining up at the bottom of the Keighley Gate Road in Ilkley, before they start their challenging ascent, with the front runners expected to finish in 7-8 minutes.
Entry is open via https://racebest.com/races/qc3fe. Spectators are very welcome also, with prize giving immediately after the race.
Organised by local running club Ilkley Harriers, volunteers will be manning the route and start/finish line. Thanks go to our sponsors Yorkshire Runner and Saltaire Brewery.
Ilkley Harriers is a thriving club with 450+ members and involves runners from those who “Jeff” (walk run) to those who run at national standard.
Junior sprint relays also take place on the same night, starting at 6pm. More details here: http://www.junior.ilkleyharriers.org.uk/inclinejunior.html.
