EASTER Sunday saw the 25th staging of the popular Guiseley Gallop 10km trail race.

This two-lap course takes place on trails through Esholt Woods near Guiseley, with some tarmac and paths to contend with around the edge of the course. Ilkley Harrier Jack Cummings won the race with Jack storming to the finish in a speedy 33:57.

He was followed by Rob Cunningham who finished in ninth place in a time of 42:00. Third Harrier home was Dave Foyston in 44:37. Ruth Kitchen led the Ilkley ladies’ home, with Ruth being the third lady to finish overall. She was followed by Catherine Crawley in 49:56, with Catherine taking first place in her age category.

Alison Bennett was the third Ilkley lady home in 51:42, with Alison taking the first prize in her age category. Mark Iley also had a great run with Mark being the first V60 to finish.

Harrier Ben Rothery finished in a fantastic third place at the Rivington Pike Fell Race in a time of 17:42, just behind international runners who finished in first and second places. This 5.2 km Category B short but tough fell race with 800ft of ascent takes place in Horwich and takes a route up to Rivington Pike and back.

Also on the fells, this week saw the staging of the second race of the Bunny Run series, a trio of spring races organized by Wharfedale Harriers. Both juniors and seniors race together on a 2.7-mile circuit on Penistone Hill, with all finishers receiving a chocolate momento.

Junior Harrier Archie Budding was the first Harrier home in 17:52, with Archie taking the first BU17 placing. Ilkley Harrier Emily Gibbins was the first home in the ladies category and second female overall in a great time of 17:58.

On the roads, Sally Malir took part in the Salford 10km Road Race, a popular measured fast two lap course. Sally ran this in a great time of 47:26, finishing fourth in her age category.

Lots of Harriers were out for the Easter Saturday timed 5km parkruns. Harrier Oli Murphy was the first finisher at the Chicester parkrun, Oli finishing in a superb time of 16:28. Catherine Gibbons had a great run at the Skipton parkrun and was the first lady to finish in 21:32. Nick Kealey, Stephen Coy and Justin Pierce had top ten placings at the parkruns this weekend, with Nick fourth to finish at the Chevin Forest parkrun and Stephen eighth finisher at the same parkrun.

Justin finished in sixth place at the Skipton parkrun in 19:09. Junior Harrier Jake Norris finished in sixth place at the Jersey parkrun in 18:26, with Junior Harrier Helena Coy third female finisher at the Chevin Forest parkrun.  REPORT BY: JEAN SULLIVAN
