BEN Rhydding Men beat Leeds 2nds 5-3in warm conditions Saturday.
Rhydding defended a flurry of early corners and replied by scoring from their first corner, Callum Franks putting them ahead on seven minutes.
Leeds equalised but Charlie Smith put Rhydding back in front with a back-space goal into the roof of the net.
Rhydding changed gear in the second half but Leeds caught them on the break to level again at 2-2. Against the run of play, Leeds broke away and scored to take the lead.
Rhydding retorted immediately with a dazzling corner routine that Smith finished to level the scores. And it was Smith again who gave his team the lead, smashing home on his reverse for a glorious hat-trick goal to make it 4-3. Will Musgrave had the last word, creaming home a forehand smasher to seal the deal at 5-3.
Ben Rhydding Women were comfortable 2-0 winners over bottom placed Belper with goals by Sarah Bell and Rebecca Birch sealing the win.
