ANOTHER double header weekend for Rhydding, this time in sunshine rather than storms.

A game between top and bottom of the league you would have thought might be a drubbing, but Hallam produced a valiant performance that nearly tripped Rhydding up. Despite having the ball for most of the first half, Rhydding were unable to turn possession into points and even a flurry of corners were fruitlessly off target.

The mood was low as Rhydding went into the half time break at 0-0 and beginning to wonder what they needed to do to score.

It took 67 minutes for Rhydding to finally claim the 1-0 winner courtesy of some goal mouth tenacity by Will Musgrave. Still top of the league.

And onto day two of another gruelling double header and an excellent game of hockey. Both teams playing well organised and tactically astute hockey and both teams keen to play at high intensity throughout.

The students scored almost from the first whistle, really catching Rhydding out and stringing a series of passes together to create an overload and pop in a goal. Rhydding replied quickly and equalised with an expert corner routine finished by Will Musgrave.

So, three minutes in and two goals. Ed Snelling in goal was called upon many more times to deny Durham and it took Rhydding a long time to find their flow and start to take the game up a level. Skipper, Rob Ramsden sealed the game for Rhydding smashing home the winner after a corner break down, sealing a 2-1 victory in that one.

A 6 point weekend for Rhydding as they maintain their position at the top of the league.

This Saturday is another rest day for the men while the Women entertain Gloucester City at 1.30pm. The Women's will be looking for a consistent run-in following the recent weather conditions.
