STORM EUNICE was out to get sport at the weekend, with a number of games across the region being called off.

There were clubs from Ilkley that fell victim to the chaos caused by the weather, including Ilkley Rugby Club, Ilkley Town and Ben Rhydding Hockey Club.

A cracking local derby was in store on Saturday, with two old foes ready to clash at Wagon Lane.

Yes that's right, Ilkley Rugby Club had hoped to take their promotion push to Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club, in what was set to be an eye-catching tie.

But the ferocious conditions halted that fixture for the time being. The rearranged date is set to be announced in due course. Rhys Morgan's men return to action on Saturday at home to Morpeth.

Ilkley Town had an away trip planned. They were set to take on AFC Darwen in a huge relegation crunch clash, with both sides battling it out in the drop zone.

A victory for Town would have been crucial in their bid for survival as they rest just one spot above Darwen but the latter have one game in hand on them.

Likewise, the rearranged date for that league game will be rearranged in due course.

And for Ben Rhydding Hockey Club, Storm Eunice postponed most of their available fixtures.

The women's team cruised to a 3-0 away victory at Olton & West Warwicks Women.

The men's first team fixture was postponed but the first team return to action this weekend at home to Sheffield Hallam, while the second team travel to Scarborough.

Hopefully the weather doesn't play havoc this weekend and the local sport can go ahead.
