THIS was a different game to the two gruelling battles that Rhydding had endured last weekend, but in some ways was more difficult as they struggled to play with their usual pace.
It was less that two minutes into the game when Rhydding opened the scoring with a string of passes finished by Charlie Smith. Will Musgrave picked his spot for the second, smashing home on his forehand after a well placed ball in from Callum Franks. The third was a glory goal from Mark Portnell, into the roof of the net from a tricky angle. Then Musgrave struck again with a beautiful corner to make it 4-0.
Having scored four goals in the first 17 minutes of the game, you might have expected double figures but there was a gap of 30 minutes before Rhydding began to convert possession into points again.
Callum Franks delivered an exquisite corner to make it 5-0 and quickly afterwards, a Smith and Portnell combo delivered a delightful sixth goal. Franks claimed the seventh with another beautiful corner and the last word fell to Musgrave for a hat-trick and an 8-0 victory.
