THE Soreen Stanbury Splash, organised by Wharfedale Harriers, took place at the weekend starting and finishing at Penistone Hill Country Park.

This 6.7mile fell race involves 1200 feet of climbing and is a regular feature on the fell running calendar.

Ilkley Harrier Jack Cummings stormed ahead to finish in first place, a clear two minutes ahead of second place. Nick Kealey was the second Harrier home and Jeff Green was the third to finish. Rachel Carter had another great race, leading the Ilkley ladies home.

There was a great turnout of Harriers at the very popular Brass Monkey half marathon, organised by York Knavesmire Harriers.

This flat and fast course attracted approx. 1,500 runners, with runners setting off from Bishopthorpe road, through Bishopthorpe and Appleton Roebuck before returning to the finishing line behind York racecourse.

Fourteen Harriers took part, with many Harriers achieving personal bests at this race, Rob Cunningham led the Harriers home in a superb time of 1:20:11.
