THE third Junior European Open Qualifier has been held at Otley Golf Club, with several budding young national and international stars coming out to play.

Several of the Otley club's juniors, as well as players from all over the UK and even Europe came to try and qualify for the finals, which are due to be held in Spain in November 2020, in the hope of following in the footsteps of Justin Rose, Luke Donald and others.

The club welcomed the Tournament Director, Fred Moghadam to Otley, who has organised this tournament since its inception in 1993.

He was ably assisted by past Otley captains, Andy Harm and Ian Lomas.

Alex Harm, previous junior captain at Otley, who has already qualified for the Junior European Open, found the conditions challenging on the day, especially with the pins tucked away in some interesting positions on the greens.

Other Otley juniors, including present junior captain Will Hughes, all found it tough despite being on their own course so, unfortunately, no other Otley members were able to qualify.

Lucas Martin and Teddy Sample for the boys and Rachel Seal for the girls brought in the best scores on the day, so they join Harm in going to Spain for the finals.

Otley have said they are very proud of Harm and all the juniors who took part.

They added that everyone wishes Harm the very best of luck for his week in November in Spain - and are hoping he can make it third time lucky.
