THACKLEY and Bradford (Park Avenue) Ladies shared the spoils in a ding-dong friendly at Dennyfield on Sunday.

After only one minute, superb play saw Bradford's Nat Bell on the scoresheet, but mid-way through the first half, an excellent cross found an unmarked Lois Cooper, who put away the equaliser.

Early in the second half, Thackley goalkeeper Katie Bailey made a good save but was unable to hold on to the ball, and Millie West pounced to put North East Regional Women's Football League side Avenue back in front.

However, West Riding Premier Division team Thackley piled on the pressure to force Bradford custodian Annie Roberts to make a series of excellent saves and the hosts deservedly levelled as Annie Nicol scored a 25-yard stunner.

But with 10 minutes to go, excellent build-up play led to Bell's second of the day and gave Avenue the upper hand again.

However a well-organised Thackley drew 3-3 after last season's leading scorer Cooper netted with a late strike.

In other news, the recently-renamed Brighouse Sports Ladies have arranged away games at Lower Hopton, Bradford (Park Avenue), Ossett Reserves and Ilkley Town.

On Tuesday, August 11 at 6:45pm, they entertain Huddersfield Amateur and on September 6, they welcome Bradford City Women to their new home at Russell Way.

And Brighouse Women, who have upcoming friendlies against Middlesbrough, Lincoln (and possibly Celtic) have welcomed former Bradford City captain Shauna Legge to the club from Huddersfield Town.

They have also brought youngster Katja May into the development squad from Leeds United, while they are still looking to recruit for the under-18 side.
