GUISELEY have kept another young player from last year's campaign as George Cantrill has signed on the dotted line on a new one-year deal.

The 20-year-old, who plays in midfield and full back when needed, started 32 times in the curtailed 2019/20 campaign.

After initially starring in a loan spell, he joined Nethermoor permanently after being released by Premier League side Sheffield United in the summer of 2019.

Cantrill becomes the fifth player to commit his future to the club and is looking forward to the new season, whenever it is safe enough to begin.

He said: “I couldn’t wait to sign a new contract with Guiseley and now I can’t wait for a new season to start. It is a pity the season ended early as I feel we could have got into the play-offs the way we were performing, especially with the way we played in the last game we played at King’s Lynn Town.

“We look as if we will have a similar squad to last season so I think we can push on and aim for promotion. I believe we are capable of that and we will have as much of a chance as anyone else.”
