AIRECENTRE Pacers covered the full spectrum of race distances last weekend ranging from the Punk Panther Ultra 32-mile event through to some flat fast 10k’s and short but no less challenging 5k Parkruns.

Doing it tough were runners competing in the Punk Panther Welcome Way 32-mile event starting in Otley and ending in Pool by way of Denton, Ilkley, Burley and Baildon Moors with a final flourish over the Chevin to finish by way of Bramhope - a small matter of 4,300ft of climbing along the way. William Woodhead (7:55) led the Pacers home with Isobel Hainsworth-Brear, Sharon Elms and Amanda Connolly crossing the finish together in 9:34:09.

Opting for the flatter, faster option was Andrew Humphries who continued his fine run of form to win the Pontefract 10k by just four seconds in a thrilling sprint finish in 34.08.

Margaret Britton, meanwhile, continued her assault on the Spanish races by getting onto the podium in the Torre de Mar 10k on the Costa del Sol. Britton turned in a great performance to finish in 48.57, officially second FV55 and first FV65 by a street.

Another fine run from Poppy Cartwright saw her take an age category win and eighth lady spot at the Sherwood Pines Parkrun in Nottinghamshire finishing in 24.57.

Finally, six Pacers joined 545 other park runners at Lister Park, Bradford, to applaud long-serving event director Linda Bussey on her 300th stint in charge. Bussey steps down shortly after 10 years at the helm. Owain Gwilym (20.32), Andy Gledhill (27.14), Jaqueline Reid (30.50), Cora Dove (32.20), Sally Russ (33.55) and Ewen Pearson (40.02) flew the flag for Pacers.
