GUISELEY climbed back above hosts Darlington in the National North with yet another wonderful away performance as they triumphed 3-0.

The Lions had been hit with a major blow on Friday as Chris Wilder’s Premier League outfit Sheffield United had recalled goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst to loan him out to League Two Carlisle.

But the Guiseley management team acted quickly and drafted in young keeper Brad Wade from League One club Rochdale on a one-month loan.

Wade made a good early save to settle in and he was to earn a clean sheet on his debut as the Lions strolled to a win over an under-par Darlo.

It was a rare off-day for the Quakers who were being skippered by former Guiseley midfielder Will Hatfield.

The visitors - who extended Chris Sang's loan from Barnsley for another month - had a first-half lead after home keeper Liam Connell was, harshly, adjudged to have handled a back pass. Lions captain Hamza Bencherif scored from the resulting free-kick.

Aram Soleman bagged a second-half brace as he netted a 54th minute penalty, after Kaine Felix had been fouled just inside the area, and an excellent solo goal late in the game.

Guiseley joint manager Marcus Bignot said: “We have got to be delighted with that following on from Brackley (drawing away at the third-placed side the previous Saturday).

“It was a good point down there but not the best performance and we asked the players to give us that little bit more and we had the lot in this game. They gave us everything and I’m delighted.”
