BRADFORD & DISTRICT EVENING CRICKET LEAGUE INVITE APPLICATIONS FROM NEW CLUBS AHEAD OF AGM

THE Bradford & District Evening Cricket League are inviting applications from new clubs ahead of their annual meeting next month.

The league, who were made up 14 teams last season, want to bring the number of competing sides up to 16 to enable two divisions of eight.

Their annual meeting takes place on Wednesday, December 4 at East Bierley Cricket Club (7.30pm).

The planned format of the league involves teams playing 14 games, on Wednesday evenings (6.30pm start), between April and July.

It is 16/18 overs per innings, depending on weather, with a maximum of four overs per bowler. Batsmen retire once they have reached 50 runs.

The original idea behind the competition was to provide an alternative to net practice, while home matches can also provide a way of raising funds.

There are also team and individual league trophies to be won, including the chance to appear in the League’s Finals Day held on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Any new clubs wishing to join for the 2020 season are asked to contact league secretary Phil Poole Snr either by phone (07778 138036) or email (phil_poole2002@yahoo.co.uk).
