BRAMHOPE’S Shayan Siraj won silver and bronze for England at the Home Countries International Championship in Douglas, Isle of Man.

As well as the host nation, England took on Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey in team and individual events for men and women in senior, junior and cadet age groups.

Siraj teamed up with Ethan Walsh to take silver in the senior men’s team event, the duo beating Isle of Man, Ireland and Jersey 5-0 and edging out Guernsey 3-2.

The key results saw England beat Wales, Scotland beat England and Wales beat Scotland, all by 3-2 margins. The three-way countback saw Scotland get the verdict for gold, ahead of England with Wales taking bronze.

In the individual event, Siraj won bronze, having been beaten in the semi-finals by eventual silver medalist Callum Evans of Wales. In all, England won 14 medals, seven of them gold.
