A STUNNING run saw Skyrac AC’s Charlotte Rawstron set a new course record at the annual Grasmere Guides Fell Face.

Turning her attention from the track to the Lakeland fells, Rawstron won the under-14 girls’ race in 7:26, knocking 10 seconds off the record.

She was only pipped on the line by Ambleside’s Jack Dixon for the overall under-14 category and finished nearly two minutes ahead of the second girl.

Skyrac’s junior athletes also had a strong finish to the summer athletics season in the West Yorkshire Track and Field League Championships at Cleckheaton.

In the under-11s age group, Abigail Jones won silver in the 600 metres final in 1:50:17. Grace Walker won her heat and then came fourth in the 75 metres final in 11.75 seconds.

Sophia Errington won both her heat and semi-final before going on to win the final of the under-13 girls’ 80 metres in 11.36 seconds.

Skyrac also had three finishers in top 10 of the under-13 girls 800 metres final with Holly Smith, Sophie Beaumont and Jessica Rawstron.

In the same age group for the girls’ discus, Alice Tyrer came second with a throw of 13.99 metres.

In the under-15 girls’ 1500 metres Rawstron continued her fine track form with a silver medal in 5:11:64.
