ILKLEY Town got two hat-tricks in a goal-crazy second half to run out 8-1 winners against Knaresborugh on Saturday.

The home team broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when James Turland’s whipped cross from the left flank landed to Joe Chilaka inside the box, who controlled the ball before blasting it into the net.

Darren Munday doubled Ilkley’s lead in the 38th minute from a corner when Joe Chilaka’s shot rebounded to Munday, who then tapped it into the net.

Knaresborough’s full-back Jack Thompson halved the deficit on the stroke of half-time when the away team caught Ilkley on the break and their No 2 made an overlapping run before making the score 2-1.

It didn’t take long for Ilkley to restore their two0goal lead at the beginning of the second half when Harry Brown won the ball on the edge of the box and smashed it into the top right corner after it clipped the cross bar on the way in.

Tom Smith got the home team’s fourth goal when his curling shot beat the keeper and went into the top right corner.

The hosts were now in complete control of the game and Brown got his second goal of the game from close range when he got on the end of a loose ball before his powerful shot beat Jordan Myers.

Smith then got his brace shortly after to make it 6-1.

Brown’s final goal for his hat-trick was a moment to forget for Knaresborough’s Myers’ when the Ilkley player's shot at goal when straight at the keeper but Myers was unable to prevent Ilkley from getting their seventh goal of the game.

Smith then bagged his hat-trick in injury time to round off Ilkley’s victory.
