Otley 64

OTLEY stacked up ten tries in a pre-season game against Ilkley on a warm and sunny afternoon at Stacks Field.

Otley were out of the traps early, with Henry Watson crashing over after three minutes. Ben Smith converted this and four subsequent tries.

Although Ilkley were penned in their half for most of the first 40 minutes, they defended well and kept the score down to three tries.

The first of those tries came from a rolling maul on the left hand flank with Simon Willet grounding the ball, as intercept pass by Ben saw Willet score his first try for the club.

The first half ended 21-0 to Otley.

Declan Dunn, in the front row for the first time, went over early in the second half.

This was followed by tries from James Magee and Jack Scott-Paul, and then Smith got his second after another intercept pass.

Harry Skelton’s try saw the score hit 50.

There were two further tries by Elliott Morgan, making his debut after signing from Ilkley, and Henry Roberts, with both being converted by Joe Rowntree, rounding off a very good afternoon for Otley.
