IT was a quiet weekend for racing on the domestic front, but Ilkley Harrier Jack Wood performed on an international stage at the Sierre Zinal Mountain Race in Switzerland on Sunday.

Also known as the "race of the five 4,000m peaks", the route heads along a 31km mountain trail, taking in 2,200 metres of elevation, in the heart of the Valais Alps.

A world class field saw ultra running legend Kilian Jornet win the race with a new record of 2:25:35.

Wood finished in an impressive 3:11:36, in an overall position of 125th, which saw him comfortably in the top 10 per cent of all finishers in this prestigious and long-running event.

Closer to home in Silsden on Thursday, Jack Cummings was second at the six-mile King's Challenge fell race.

Cummings had a good lead on the descent, but a wrong turn saw him overtaken into second place, eventually just missing out on the win in a sprint finish.

A strong performance by Chantal Busby saw her finish as first female over 50.

On the Parkrun front, Hilda Coulsey claimed the female over 65 record at Portrush Parkrun on Saturday, coming top of the age grade table.

Closer to home, Catherine Gibbons was third lady at Skipton Parkrun in 22:37.
