BRADFORD (Park Avenue) suffered a second successive 5-0 hammering as neighbours Guiseley made it two wins from two games.

The local rivals could not have made more contrasting starts to the new campaign as Garry Thompson's side were put to the sword in his first National League North home game at Horsfall.

After Saturday's trouncing at Curzon Ashton, Park Avenue conceded another hatful while the Lions made it eight goals and none conceded following a 3-0 win over Kings Lynn.

New signing Aaron Martin scored a hat-trick and there was one apiece for Arum Soleman and midfielder Jamie Spencer on his return to Horsfall following his summer move.

Guiseley took the lead after just seven minutes when Avenue failed to clear their lines from a corner and Martin pounced to score.

It was 2-0 midway through the half when Gabriel Johnson cut in from the right and played a superb ball out to the opposite flank where Soleman curled a shot inside the far post, despite Charlie Andrew getting a hand to it.

Eight minutes later Martin’s downward header into the bottom corner made it 3-0 and the striker nearly completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time as another corner caused panic in the home defence, but he put the ball the wrong side of the far post.

But just six minutes after the restart, the former Brighouse Town ace bagged his triple.

Avenue again failed to deal with a cross from the right that was heading dead until Hamza Bencherif muscled Mitch Lund out of the way to head the ball back into the mix where an unmarked Martin made it 4-0.

Avenue made three changes but to no avail as even when they breached the Guiseley rear-guard, on-loan Bantams keeper George Sykes-Kenworthy stood firm.

To rub salt into the wound, Spencer added to the double he scored on his Guiseley debut last Saturday when he pinged a shot into the top corner with three minutes of normal time remaining.

The result put the Lions top of the early table, leaving Avenue rock-bottom and new boss Thompson with a big headache just two games into his tenure since taking over from Mark Bower in the close season.
