ILKLEY Town continue their pre-season friendly campaign with a trip to Grassington United this weekend.

Town will make the trip to Town End Field, Grassington, on Saturday (2pm kick-off). Ilkley kick off their season in West Yorkshire League Premier Division at Newsome on Saturday, August 10.

Ilkley lost 3-0 to Farsley Celtic Juniors in a friendly clash at the Ben Rhydding Sports Centre's 4G pitch last Saturday.

This followed an impressive 3-2 victory over Silsden last week.

Ten minutes in Town gained possession on the halfway line through Tom Fleming. He found Tom Smith, who whipped a delightful ball into the penalty area. Ben Greenhow took a lovely touch before backheeling into the path of Fleming, who fired home to make it 1-0.

Town doubled their lead on the half hour as Fleming released George Gomersall on the right-hand side. He cut inside his marker and delivered to the back post where Greenhow scored.

Both sides made a number of changes at the interval, with Town having three teenagers in the back four for the second half.

Silsden started the second period the better of the two sides and quickly made it 2-1.

The Cobbydalers soon equalised as Town goalkeeper James Hirst was beaten.

From here the game became stretched and either team could have pinched it with Danny Forrest's Silsden hitting the crossbar from a fine strike and having claims for a penalty waved away by the referee.

Town quickly recovered as Richard Bull pressed and won the ball before releasing second half substitute Benji Claydon, who raced away before finding the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, the club has announced three new community partners for its first team.

Their partners are the Canal River Trust, who's logo will appear on Town's home shirt, and Anytime Fitness Ilkley, who will have their logo on the club's away strip. Dominic Roberts has also signed up as a community partner.
