AT a packed Menston Cricket Club, the club's juniors prevailed over Ilkley in a tight finish which had echoes of the World Cup Final.

Neither team had won the trophy before and the game went right to the wire with Menston scoring 103-6 off their 20 overs and then bowling out Ilkley for 97 with 15 balls left.

Menston have won plaudits all season for their fair play and their coaches were pleased to see them get their just desserts in a win that was a credit to the spirit of cricket.

Menston’s juniors are having a good run lately with this team winning their league three years in a row and winning the play off against Ilkley twice in a row.

Menston’s Under11s are also going great guns being undefeated all year and having play-off games in September to determine if they will win the league title for consecutive years as well.
