SOME of cricket's biggest-ever names will take to the field in Burley-in-Wharfedale for a clash.
The Lashings World XI will battle Burley-in-Wharfedale on Friday, July 12, in a T20 contest at the latter club's Hodson Park, Grange Road ground.
The action will not just be confined to the field as it will also include a three-course marquee lunch, meeting the players, a questions and answer session and auction. A coaching session for local schoolchildren will kick off the day and the game will start at 4pm.
Legendary broadcaster Henry 'Blowers' Blofeld will attend the event's lunch and do some commentary.
Lashings World XI is a cricket team, founded by David Folb, originally formed in 1984 as a scratch team.
Based in Maidstone, Kent, England, the team has attracted a number of international cricketers and other celebrities to its ranks, including Richie Richardson, Brian Lara, Aravinda De Silva and Sir Viv Richards.
The team is to be captained in 2019 by Martin Bicknell and coached by Gordon Greenidge and other confirmed squad stars include John Emburey, Devon Malcolm, Chris Lewis, Tino Best, Niall O’Brien, Yasir Arafat, Adam Holliaoke, Saj Kahmood, Kabir Ali, Faisal Iqbal, Usman Afzaal and Wasim Jaffer.
