SCOTT Harrington of Otley AC secured a place in the top 100 finishers of Sunday's London Marathon.

Harrington's excellent time of two hours, 30 minutes and 41 seconds was good for 99th place overall.

Three other runners from Otley AC took part in the marathon, and second home was Mary Hampshire with a personal best time of four hours, five minutes and 43 seconds.

Gavin Burton, who was competing in his first ever marathon, finished in a time of four hours, 41 minutes and 34 seconds, and Ryk Downes crossed the line in five hours, 11 minutes and 18 seconds.

Ten runners from Otley took part in the 65th Three Peaks Race on Saturday.

John Armistead, father of world champion track and road racing cyclist Lizzie Deignan, finished 204th overall with a time of four hours, eight minutes and seven seconds to win the Men's V60 prize.

Otley also did really well in the team events.

The women's team men's team of Victoria Stainburn (4.18.27), Laura McCabe (4.37.49) and Louise Williams (4.47.23) finished sixth overall and the men's team of Joe Torr (3.45.31), Tom Lynch (3.45.51), Gary Johnson (3.55.25) and Armitstead finished 16th overall, as both teams came in ahead of some big running clubs.

Nick Hodgkinson, Graham Lake and Chris Brunold also took part in the race.

Also on Sunday, Sharron Smith took first place in the FV40 category of the 11-mile Blakey Blitz Fell Race on the North York Moors.

Other runners included Steven Robinson, Matt Podd and Colin Best.
