POOL advanced to the final of the Wharfedale FA Challenge Cup after beating Esholt-based Route One Rovers 2-0 in a semi-final cup tie at the weekend.

This was an entertaining match, as both teams played some good football.

Pool should have had the match wrapped up by half-time, having a goal disallowed and missing other good chances.

When they did take the lead it was a goal well worthy of it, as Billy Drake powered his header into the net, giving the keeper no chance.

Again in the second half, Pool should have put the match to bed, but failing to do so gave Rovers added confidence, as one break down the right put their striker through, but to Pool's relief he fired his shot wide.

This would though have been rough justice for Pool as they were the better team, so when Jack Farrimond finished from close range to complete the job, ensuring Pool's place in the final, it was no more than their performance deserved.

They will now face the winners of Ilkley Town and Horsforth St Margaret's at Guiseley on Sunday, April 28. Kick-off is at 11am.

Before that, they have an important league match when Aberford Albion visit their Arthington Lane ground next Wednesday. Kick-off is at 6.30pm.
