OTLEY AC was well represented in the 2019 Yorkshire Cross Country Championships at Lightwater Valley last weekend.

The cross country elite of Yorkshire flew round the farm fields next to The Ultimate rollercoaster, thanks in part to the very dry conditions underfoot.

The Black and Whites had an excellent ladies team result, which saw them finish 11th.

Runs by Victoria Stainburn (32.35), who finished 34th, Becky Harpur (32.57) in 42nd, Rachael Wright (35.58) in 85th and Sara Elliott (36.59) in 96th counted towards the team score.

England cross country international Emile Cairess (32.15), of Leeds City AC, beat Bramhope's international triathlete Jonny Brownlee in the men's race.

Running for Bingley Harriers, Brownlee finished third in 32.43.

Brownlee, who grew up in Horsforth, posted an Instagram picture of himself running alongside Otley runner Antonio Cardinale, who finished 326th in 1.17.46.

Liam Dunne (39.37) was Otley's top men's finisher in 113th place.

Otley had some good junior results with Charlotte Chambers (10.57) finishing 44th in the under-13 girls, Aston Brogden (9.58) and George Chambers (10.09) finishing 51st and 56th in the under-13 boys, and Jenson Brogden (16.50) and Zachary Quin (18.45) finishing 40th and 85th in the under-15 boys.
