AS Pool returned to near full strength, they put in a strong performance in a 2-0 loss to high-flying Aberford Albion
Pool welcomed back Josh Waite, Billy Drake and James Carroll into the back four with Robert Cross, and it showed with Aberford struggling to create chances.
Their first goal ultimately came via a cross from the left, their forward just getting in front of his marker to head home bravely.
Pool continued to hold their own, and in the second half began to outplay their illustrious hosts, the Wagstaff brothers dominating midfield ably assisted by Jack Farrimond, with Jamie Algar combining well down the left with Adam Caldow.
Caldow got on to the end of one penetrating move, but pulled his shot wide.
Centre forward Sandro Blade kept the keeper on his toes, and new signing Ruben Emanuel looked good as he came on as a substitute in the last 20 minutes.
Andy Doey in the Pool goal had pulled off a couple of fine saves, but had no chance with the volley that gave Aberford a two-goal advantage, against the run of play, and effectively sealed their victory in the West Yorkshire League Division One encounter.
Pool Reserves also put out a strong squad in their 2-1 loss in West Yorkshire League Alliance Division Two.
Despite losing by one goal they had plenty to be positive about.
Young Dan Swales in goal pulled off a fine penalty save, and had Pool's effort which hit the post gone in, they may have got something out of the match.
As it was, they just had Ben Fawcett's consolation goal to show for their efforts.
