BEN Rhydding Men and Harrogate played to a 3-3 draw in a cracking local derby.

With Harrogate sitting on top of the league with nine wins and two draws, they fancied their chances against fourth placed Ben Rhydding.

The first half certainly seemed to go the way of Harrogate as they converted an early short corner.

Displaying a strong short corner routine Harrogate looked to score more this way, but it was Myles Locke who converted a corner for Ben Rhydding only for Harrogate to get a second just before half-time.

Although the home side led 2-1 up at the half, the tide turned as the second half as Ben Rhydding dominated with some excellent build up play from defence and through the midfield.

Harrogate scored against the run of play, but Locke struck again from another penalty corner. With just a few minutes to go, Ben Rhydding won a penalty flick which was duly converted by Will Musgrave.

Rhydding pushed forward and almost snatched a winner, but it was not to be.

The team will return to action in January after the Christmas break.
