BEN Rhydding Men returned to form and almost full strength as they overpowered Chapeltown 7-0 in the North Division One at the weekend.

As is often the case, the team dominated possession and territory – this time managing to convert this into goals without being unduly threatened in defence.

Callum Franks managed to score from a rebound at an early penalty corner after 10 minutes and Myles Locke managed a clean strike at the next penalty corner to put Rhydding two up.

Ben Rhydding came out strongly in the second half with three goals from open play in the first eight minutes from Will Musgrave, and two wonderful strikes from Matt Bairstow.

Charlie Smith was instrumental in the second of these and unlucky not to be on the score sheet himself. Locke converted a second penalty corner before Musgrave wrapped up a 7-0 scoreline with a penalty flick.

This Saturday sees the men travel to Neston for an 11.45am start.

Loughborough Students overtook Ben Rhydding Ladies at the top of the top of the Investec Women’s Conference North with a 3-0 victory at Ben Rhydding on Sunday.

Ella Cusack gave the away side an early lead when she scored from open play in the fourth minute.

Lucy Millington doubled their advantage in the 16th after she finished a penalty stroke, and it was 3-0 in the 52nd via a goal from Jen Park from a penalty corner.

This Saturday the ladies travel to Belper.
