A DAY of glorious weather and excellent course conditions greeted the full field of competitors who played in, Morag Wilkinson’s Ladies’ Captain’s Day at Otley Golf Club.

A number of gentlemen assisted in the smooth running of the day, none more so than those led by the gent’s captain, Andy Harm.

Mrs Wilkinson, assisted by her husband, Brian, presented prizes to the 14 winners.

Sheila York, the winner of the Mary Bell Trophy, awarded to the best nett score, thanked Mrs Wilkinson on behalf of all the prize winners.

The prize winners were: Ladies’ Captain’s Prize: S York (20) 69; Best Gross: T Batty 76; Division One: Winner: L Barker 70; runner-up: S Coles 71; Division Two: Winner: M Parker 70; r/up: B Leeming 73;

Division Three: Winner: H Grantham 77; R/Up: M Ainsley 79; Division Four: Winner: C Lamb 72; r/up: R Edwards 104; Nine-hole competition: F Porter 19 points; r/up: H Dixon 18; Nearest the pin on 10th: R Copley; Nearest the Line on third: S Wilyman.

Paddy Young’s recent excellent form continued as he amassed 40 stableford points to win the mid-week competition by finishing two points ahead of Sion Blears in the runners-up berth.

Nigel Borwell won the nine-hole competition with 17 points.

In another busy week at Otley Golf Club, Mark Hughes, won the rabbits’ chairman’s prize, played in conjunction with the July Medal, with a nett score of 66.

Jonjo Boswell, continued his fine run of form when he won, Dan Clark-Coates, junior captain’s day. His 69 beat Benjamin Grimmitt on a count-back.

The results of the Gent’s Medal were: Division One: M Pratt (10) 67; D Allister (7) 68; A Thompson (10) 69; Division Two: M Hughes (18) 66; D Horne (19) 67; G Taylor (14) 68; Division Three: D Goldie (23) 68; T Johnson (20) 70; J Bates (20) 71.

Meanwhile, Ilkley Rugby Club held its annual golf day at Ilkley GC.

Marie and Guy Scott and Stephanie and Neil Robson. Marie was the star of the four ball but all four came in when required.

Meanwhile, the Ilkley Golf Club Captain’s Charity Day was a great success.

The event included a mixed Texas Scramble which saw some low scores with such good summer golfing conditions.

Members were treated at the halfway house to delicious cakes and refreshments, which were gladly received.

Participants raised just over £1,000 in aid of Martin House Children's Hospice, the Captains’ chosen charity.

The winners with a score of 50.9 were James Downs, Vicky Downs, Archie Downs and Chris Nixon.

The runners up with a score of 55.2 were Simon O’Hara, Mushtaq Khokar, Toby Coupe and Ollie Shaw.
