BURLEY Trojans gained two impressive wins in a packed end of season Heck Foods Harrogate League fixture list.

A 3-2 midweek triumph at Addingham was followed by a hard-earned 3-1 success at Beckwithshaw to move up to fifth in the Premier Division.

Addingham had overturned Trojans earlier in the season and Burley manager Tom Higman was delighted with his side gaining revenge.

Trojans dominated the first 60 minutes and man of the match Paddy Bibby had a hand in all three goals as Trojans eased into a 3-0 lead.

Bibby was a constant threat down the left flank, as was his midfield counterpart Chris Holmes.

Burley's defence looked in complete control, with Richard and Eddy Bryan both continuing their strong recent form.

At the other end striker and top scorer Simon Walker spurned two clear opportunities, hitting the post on each occasion.

Two fine goals from Addingham striker Steve Hunt led to a tense final ten minutes.

This tension boiled over with two minutes to go, but the referee defused the situation.

The win put Burley in good heart for Saturday's away trip to Beckwithshaw Saints

It has been a long time since Trojans have gained any points there and they had to press captain Dave Healey into action as a goalkeeper.

It didn’t take long for lone-striker Higman to open the scoring. He rolled his defender and drove a fierce shot into the roof of the net.

Higman increased the lead early in the second half when he headed home from a precise Bibby cross.

Minutes later Burley were awarded a penalty when Danny Bryan broke into the box and was floored by the Beckwithshaw keeper.

Bryan dusted himself off and blazed the spot kick high over the bar. Centre-back Ben Garnham kept the opposition strikers fairly quiet throughout the game but after a shot rebounded it fell to Beckwithshaw's number 10 and he slotted home.

Trojans composed themselves and regained their two-goal lead when Bibby was rewarded for his hard work by cutting inside and slotting home.
