IT’S been an up and down campaign for Burley Trojans in the Heck Foods Harrogate League Premier Division.

Tom Higman, in his first season as manager, has only been able to pick from the same squad twice since the start of the season.

The season did not start well with few games in the early stages with postponements for a variety of reasons which did not allow for continuity.

Higman, a former Guiseley centre-back, has brought in new faces and at times made the numbers up by bringing back some veteran players.

As the season has progressed form has picked up and has seen several players step up.

Danny Bryan and Dan Henderson have clicked into position and have been on the scoresheet in seven of the 11 games this season.

Henderson has picked up a hat-trick up along the way and Danny Bryan is the man from the penalty spot.

Playing out of Ben Rhydding Sports Club Trojans now have a positive goal difference for the first time this season thanks to a steadying defence with regulars in club captain Dave Healy and Ben Garnham prominent.

Eddy Bryan has looked solid in his new role of centre-back and it is great to see Tom Ross come back from injury and return to his full back spot.

There has been a resurgence up front where Simon Walker spent many years for the Burley side. For a season or two he dropped back to centre-back but he is now restored to his natural position and revelling in it, scoring two hat-tricks along the way to become leading scorer with 12 goals.

Chris Holmes and Pad Bibby have been on the wings this season and at times both have been unplayable and have provided around half a dozen assists each.

Recently some new young faces have been added to the squad which is what the club needs to carry on into the future.
