Ilkley Dynamo 2 Hampsthwaite United 1

DYNAMO received a New Year tonic with a hard-earned Wharfedale Triangle Premier Division win.

The visitors struck an early blow, much against the run of play, with Dynamo in control after a fine burst of initial attacks.

Struan Connor, showing great awareness and quick feet, went close on a couple of occasions before plundering the equaliser.

Connor netted with a powerful strike after some excellent support work by Lee McGowan.

Dynamo began to show great commitment and effort with Henry Barrow and Richard Bryan both scrapping it out against a competitive opposition in midfield.

Ed Hainsworth, always on the offensive at wing back, hit a low drive to give Dynamo a 2-1 lead.

With more of a clinical effort in front of goal the home side would have been further ahead.

Stuart Blues and Jake Norton defended well but the team suffered a relapse after the withdrawal of Danny Bryan through injury.

The early resilience and confidence was lacking and Hampsthwaite piled on the pressure late on.

Some solid defending from Rob Caddick and Mike Gandy helped to ensure Dynamo stayed in front as the visitors pushed forward in an attempt to salvage something from the game.

Hampsthwaite were eventually rewarded during the final minute when they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty.

After making some superb saves throughout the match the Dynamo keeper, David Freer produced his best at the very end with an outstanding penalty save to ensure Dynamo had achieved their third-successive victory.
