A LIGHT dusting of snow set the scene for the Junior Ilkley Harriers’ Santa Run.

It was quite a spectacle to see 146 Santa’s zooming around the moor.

The majority of juniors and some of their parents ran in the one-mile fun run which took them around the tarn, across the moor and up the hill to White Wells.

For those aged ten years upwards there was the option of a two-lap, challenge of three kilometres.

The event was staged to raise funds for the junior section's new Compact Athletics Training Facility but was also about having lots of festive family fun.

On reaching White Wells drinks and a table laden with the most delicious cakes and biscuits were appeared; quite possibly provided by the elves.

The weather also helped to make it a great social occasion. What a way to start the festive season.

The sunny weather on Sunday was a bright welcome for the 24 Ilkley Harriers who made it across the region to Nostell Priory, near Wakefield to run in the first race in the series of Peco Cross Country events.
