Ben Rhydding 2 Beeston 4

SECOND-PLACED Beeston avenged their early-season defeat by Ben Rhydding in the return Investec Conference North fixture on Saturday.

The home side were raring to go after an inspiring team talk from captain Rachelle Le Bourdon which resulted in the game starting at a fast pace. Beeston applied some expected early pressure, however Ben Rhydding had the edge but couldn't take advantage of a number of good chances.

The visitors were dangerous on the counter attack and forced goalkeeper Charlotte Smith to make a number of smart saves.

Beeston's pressure was rewarded as they established a 2-0 half-time lead.

Ben Rhydding started the second half strongly but were rocked when the Beeston side scored twice more to stretch their lead.

The Ben Rhydding squad didn't let their heads drop and hit back. Their efforts were rewarded when Beth Cordukes fired a spectacular reverse shot into the net off the crossbar

This inspired Rachel Doherty to follow up with a second goal just minutes later.

Although beaten, Ben Rhydding could be pleased with their performance.
