They have now scored 100 goals after winning 18 of their 19 games and are looking to break a few records as they finish the season.

They still have the chance to do the double as they play in the quarter-finals of the National Trophy this Sunday.

On Saturday, Rhydding played a steady first half against a fast and destructive team of Newcastle students.

Myles Locke’s killer pass into the circle saw Max Helme deflect a stunning goal to open the scoring. Weary but determined, this close knit band of players took their game to visitors Didsbury on Sunday. In a howling gale they were determined to follow the success of the club's super vets set the stage with a comeback win against Reading to take them to the semi-finals of the National Cup.

Didsbury were a difficult side to break down and they repeatedly smothered Rhydding’s attacks. Will Rutter was exceptional in goal and kept them out many times.

Will Musgrave collected a difficult ball at full stretch and put it across the goal for Mark Portnell to slot in the first goal. Didsbury stayed in the battle and levelled the scores to keep the game alive. The second half saw Didsbury tire but Rhydding turned up the gas.

Musgrave skilfully flicked in the second goal and George Gamble scored the third – Rhydding’s 100th league goal and the league championship clincher.
