Yeadon Athletic 1 Ilkley Dynamo 3

DYNAMO, playing their first game for three weeks, secured a vital win to go through to the Wharfedale and District FA Sunday Cup semi-finals.

They defended deep and compact early on with Sam Jacomb giving an outstanding performance at the heart of the Dynamo rearguard.

They showed their attacking spirit in a period of strong pressure with Yeadon, a division below the visitors, always dangerous on the counter attack.

A goalmouth scramble resulted in Ollie Blair putting Dynamo 1-0 ahead with a hotly-disputed goal. The teams were evenly matched without raising any real levels of creativity.

Dom Grimes and Danny Kenna both battled hard in midfield as the visitors resurrected their attacking urgency.

A fine piece of skill by Danny Henderson, on the edge of the area, created an opening and he accelerated clear before crossing for Tom Higman to hit home from close range to put Dynamo 2-0 ahead.

Shane Etherington, the Dynamo keeper, tipped over a certain goalbound effort in spectacular fashion to maintain the two-goal cushion.

Liam Keen impressed for Yeadon before Scott Norton pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.

With the game finely poised both teams spurned clear-cut chances before Chris Holmes crowned an excellent performance for the visitors by hitting a powerful drive in the 85th minute to make it 3-1 and put Dynamo through after a fine team effort.
