Horsforth St Margaret's 2 Ilkley Dynamo 2
NEWLY-promoted Horsforth St Margaret's held the Premier Division champions to a well-deserved draw.
Dynamo made changes due to injuries but this made no difference to the performance of a strong squad.
They started briskly against a home side who ensured Dynamo had little time on the ball and marked tight.
Throughout the game, the visitors created numerous good chances, but they were made to work hard against a resolute back line.
Horsforth struck first with a powerful low shot from Finn Todd, despite Dynamo showing most of the early initiative.
Playing with plenty of confidence, Dynamo carved out several good chances before an accurate cross from the ever alert Danny Henderson found Phil Thommesen whose well timed header, his 11th goal of the season, made it 1-1.
Dynamo stepped up the tempo in the second half. They hit the bar twice and the posts three times, as Horsforth produced some last-ditch defending, to keep the scores level.
The constant pressure was eventually rewarded when the committed Danny Bryan converted a penalty, after having been scythed down in the area, to put Dynamo 2-1 in front.
Numerous missed opportunities proved costly when late on Danny Azzaro cut in from the right to level matters.
Despite notable contributions from both Tom Higman and Dom Grimes, Dynamo could not produce a winner as both sides missed clear-cut late chances.
