Ben Rhydding 2 Leeds 1

A composed and patient performance from Ben Rhydding against Leeds saw them to a 2-1 win in their first North Men's Division One home game since December.

Early domination from Ben Rhydding paid off after only 11 minutes, Callum Franks diligently won the ball and the ensuing counter attack enabled Will Mus- grave to slam the ball in from the right.

Rhydding then soaked up a spell of Leeds possession before taking control again.

With Neil Sugden pulling the strings, using his full backs to good effect, Rhydd- ing were bossing the Leeds midfield.

The back four of Tynan Cassidy, Dave Exley, Connor Dowley and Harry Bush looked silky and graceful in their passing and play was being patiently built from the back time and again.

Alex White and Musgrave were at the heart of Rhydding’s attacking play but could not quite find a way past the impressive Leeds keeper.

Kieran Borrett had a clear chance to extend the lead after a great ball from Musgrave but put the chance just wide.

A scrappy start to the second half saw Rhydding concede early when a loose ball was seized upon by a Leeds forward who finished clinically.

The home side soon began to step up a gear and attacked relentlessly.

The Leeds keeper made a series of miraculous saves, even tipping a superb deflection from Tom Zille- ssen over the bar.

Josh Sykes, Callum Franks and Harry Bush all were thwarted in front of goal and as the clock ticked down, Rhydding could not believe that a draw was possible.

Then Musgrave burst through towards goal and the Leeds keeper came flying out.

Musgrave stepped around him and was brought to ground with a desperate lunge from a Leeds defender.

Much to the dismay of the home fans, a corner rather than a penalty stroke was awarded.

However, justice was done as Musgrave himself, with fire in his belly, flashed the ball into the net .
