The dishwasher which caught fire in an Ilkley apartment block
ILKLEY firefighters were called to a fire in Ilkley at 1.40am on Wednesday with reports of a dishwasher on fire within a kitchen.
On arrival the fire was out after the owner bravely extinguished the fire himself then evacuated the property.
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson for Ilkley Fire Station said: "We used a high powered fan to clear the apartment of smoke then removed the dishwasher outside. Luckily no serious injuries occurred and everyone made it out safely! Well done to the crew and thank you to everyone within the apartment block for their patience whilst we dealt with the incident."
