A PRINCE Henry’s student is supporting the Woolpack Music Studios with 10 hour non-stop musicathon.

As is the case for so many community-based initiatives, the pandemic has hit the Woolpack Music Studios in Otley hard.

Social distancing restrictions have meant their community music groups have not been able to meet face-to-face, and studio and rehearsal space has had to close.

Robin Marsh is a Year 9 student at Prince Henry’s, Otley, who has decided to play a 10 hour non-stop musicathon to show his support and raise funds for the Woolpack.

He said: “I am a 13-year-old musician who owes a lot to the Woolpack Music Studios in Otley.

“When I was nine years old, I started going to their music groups for young people. At these groups I could be myself and I don’t know where I’d be without them. The Woolpack has been forced to close its doors during the pandemic and I want to raise funds to help them keep afloat.”

Robin’s Musicathon will take place on Monday, February 15 from 9am-7pm when he will play a mixture of bass, drums and keys.

Richard Sabey of the Woolpack said: “The funds Robin raises will go into a pot to provide free rehearsal space hire at our studios for young people who play loud instruments and so struggle to practise without annoying the neighbours!”

Robin’s Mum, Claire, said: “Richard and Jennifer have shown incredible resilience, by providing live online sessions that have lifted people’s spirits and kept people connected during these difficult times.

“These in turn have been well supported by the community, showing just how much they are valued and loved by the people who take part in their community music. Please donate to Robin’s campaign, to protect this a valuable local business.”
