THIS year’s Wharfedale Festival Awards gave recognition to the cast and directors of Ilkley Amateur Operatic Society’s production of Cinderella, with seven major trophies. The show was voted joint best musical, while stars Gabriel Jones and Evie Clark won best actor and best actress. Best supporting actress and actor went to Loretta Marklew and Ted Killan, with John Sandlands winning best musical director and Mark Allan voted best director. No awards ceremony was possible because of coronavirus so IAOS held its own presentation on the steps of Operatic House. Mike Ellison of the Wharfedale Festival Committee officiated.
The next show, postponed from November 2020, will be the youth section’s performance of Jesus Christ, Superstar planned for March 2021. Patrick Campbell, who starred in Tommy is seeking financial support to take up his place at a top London drama school. Visit https://gf.me/u/yhqmdd to help.
